Halloween Movie Countdown! #Honorable Mentions

The Halloween season offers hundreds of seasonal or seasonal-ish films from Friday the 13th part VII: The New Blood, Psycho IV: The Beginning, to Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred. So since no one could ever whittle down the many burnt Halloween offerings, I just had to throw out a few honorable mentions that could technically be watched any time of the year. 

Beetlejuice!! For me Beetlejuice is a perfect movie from beginning to end. It's a modern classic and would be enjoyable Christmas morning, Good Friday, or Veteran's Day. But it's so Halloweeny! The music, the effects, the creepy-fun vibe of it all- perfect for any day in September or October. (There's a sequel being written, and I've heard they won't do it without Michael Keaton or if it sucks, so there's that!)

Young Frankenstein is another that is practically perfect in every way. Hilarious all year, but the incredible reproduction of the monster movie look/feel brings a regular October day to scary new heights (does that make sense? This movie good). 

Plus! This movie has a comedy dreamcast- Gene Wilder, Cloris Leachman, Terri Garr, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, and Madeline Khan in Bride of Frankenstein hair! Ahh sweet mystery of life at last I've found you . . . ahhh at last I know the secret of it all . . . 

Monster Squad! Like "Young Frankenstein" above it's just so monstery! And so 80's- perfect for Halloween!

Return of the Living Dead is great for reminding you that you should be as skinny as the zombie who comes out of the barrel. I always choke on my pizza when I see him! 

Sweeney Todd is the demon barber of Fleet Street! Do you need to know anything else? Okay- Helena Bonham Carter should have won an Oscar for her meat pie-baking role. The movie also features many Harry Potter alums like Snape, Peter Pettigrew, and of course Bellatrix! There's also a line from Buffy's Watcher Giles. There's also Borat and did I mention meat pies made from murder victims? And the best part is that they sing about it all! WE ALL DESERVE TO DIE, EVEN YOU MRS. LOVETT, EVEN I!
